Parkrun Practice

We are now a registered Parkrun Practice and as such will be encouraging staff and patients to attend.

Newbury parkrun started in 2012 and is held on Greenham Common every Saturday morning at 9am. There is a car park at The Control Tower, as well as a coffee shop here for after. Unfortunately, the toilets don’t open until after the cafe is open.

1st June 2019 is pledge to parkrun day by GP practices and some of the staff from the practice will be attending either running, walking or volunteering, and we’d like to encourage more of our patients to attend as well.

It is always free, you just need to register at www.parkrun.com to obtain your unique bar code which you bring with you on Saturday mornings. This will then be scanned after you run/volunteer and will be added to your profile. After 50 completed runs, you will receive a running t-shirt and after 25 volunteer roles a volunteer t shirt.

Newbury parkrun is a very friendly event , Sue Bennett one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners is also one of the current team of Run Directors, and is delighted that the practice has embraced the encouragement of physical activity and how it can improve the wellbeing of both physical and mental health, plus it’s FUN!

Do let us know how you get on, and it is anticipated that in the future we will organise a Strawberry Hill Medical Centre Volunteer takeover for one Saturday event, details will be posted.
