Dementia Friends

Strawberry Hill Medical Centre is proud to be a Dementia Friends Practice.

A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action – anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend. Whether you attend a watch our online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about Dementia Friends to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.

  • ‘I never used to go out at all until I started to come here; I love it.’
  • ‘I’ve noticed that everyone leaves smiling.’

Please read our workshop brochure for the coming weeks about young people with dementia.

Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) Support

We are planning to start a regional support group for people with FTD, and their families, friends and healthcare professionals. Caring for people with FTD can be difficult and there are few facilities tailored or appropriate for people with FTD. We have teamed up with the Rare Dementia Support group which meets at University College London and would like to offer some local groups in Berkshire alongside what they offer.

So if you live in Berkshire or any neighbouring counties and would like to join us to shape this new initiative, give us a ring or email to join us on the 8th May 2019 from 3pm to 5pm.

Refreshments will be provided.

If you need to arrange support for your relative in order for you to attend the meeting, we may also be able to help.
